Happy Belated Easter

Alleluia, Jesus is risen indeed!

Easter was beautiful but chilly here in Korea. The mystery of the hard-boiled eggs is solved. They handed them out to everyone as the entered the church. They had little plastic wrappers with Korean writing on them. I was kind of hoping there would be some kind of massive Easter egg hunt, but such was not the case. We had lots of visitors in church since everyone was supposed to bring someone to church with them. I didn't end up inviting anyone because everyone I know here belongs to the church! The service was very nice, with several pieces of special music.

After church, the choir, praise team, elders, church staff, and missionaries all went to a restaurant for some excellent Korean food. At many Korean restaurants, you sit on pillows on the floor. Since there were so many of us, it was a tight squeeze with very little wiggle room. I ended up with very sore legs by the time lunch was over and managed to spill food all over my skirt. Chop sticks and slippery food are a dangerous combination for me.

After church we had a few free hours before heading back to the church for a joint worship service for all the Protestant churches in town. One of my beginner students sat next to me in the service and was fascinated with my earpiece for the interpretation. It was pretty painful trying to understand what was being said, so I let him listen to it. It entertained him, and I think I understood about as much of the service without the interpretation as with it, though of course I missed Dr. Kim's funny expressions. I swear, he throws them into the interpretation just for fun and not because it's actually in the sermon.
