Here's Joy cutting the kimchi with scissors:

And here we are waiting for the food to cook so we can eat! Don't you like how the guy in the poster behind me looks like he's toasting us?

It was a good day. My princesses brought a cake to school for me. They all helped me blow out the candles. Then we ate birthday cake out of paper cups with chop sticks. No one here understands why I think that's a funny way to eat cake. Here are some very cute (and silly) princesses:

Happy Birthday to one of my favorite triplets! :)
Thank you! And since we're triplets, to you as well! And again next month and again the next month. Three birthdays. As my students say, "Assah!"
Hey Ellen! Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you are having fun with your classes. You should sing them "Rise and Shine." Maybe they'll love it as much as we do.
BTW, I showed someone You Are Mine yesterday. They found it quite...amusing as well.
Hi Mike! I'm glad "You Are Mine" is making the rounds and touching more lives. What a book! ;)
Hi, EM. I hadn't seen your blog for awhile; and I'm glad I ran across this one. I remember sending you something for your birthday a few years ago. It is the first time I've sent a personal gift to someone I've never met!
Hope your birthday was great; and that you were able to eat all the cake with the chop sticks.
BTW, the children are so cute I want to come help in class. I enjoy that age group so much; and I've taught them in VBS more than once.
Mike
Hi Mike M.
Can you believe that was five years ago? I had been at the seminary for about a month. You sent me a circuit rider pendant. I still wear it. It reminds me what I'm doing (or should be doing, as is the case all too often, I'm afraid).
Yes, my birthday was great, and I continue to amaze my Korean friends with my chop-stick dexterity. I can eat just about anything with chop sticks, including, but not limited to, rice, ice cream, slippery noodles, silk worms (once but never again!), squid . . .
You are right that "my kids" are an absolutely delightful age to work with. I wasn't too sure about it at first. After working with middle and high school at the churches, I thought "Kindergarten and preschool?! You gotta be kidding!" It's definitely a change of pace, but I'm enjoying it.
It's good to hear from you again. I got your email message. That's some flood story. I'm glad everything worked out as well as it did for you.
Do you ever hear from Larry anymore? I used to hear from him regularly, but he seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. If you're still in touch with him, say hi from me!
It's good to hear from you again.
Blessings!
EM
