My Family

One of my preschool classes just started a unit called "My Family." To start us off, I had each of the kids draw his or her family on the whiteboard. Then they had to introduce their family members--"This is my family. This is my mom. This is my dad. This is my sister. This is my brother. This is me." The pictures were really cute. Of course, I drew my family, too. Terrible likeness, but I tried. I drew Mom with a perm she hasn't worn since the 80s and Dad with a fat face. And Sal, well, it doesn't look anything like her either. Sorry, Family, I'm not an artist.

you know, when my mom was an exchange student and my aunt Martha was told to draw a picture of her family, she left my mom out of the picture

Oh no! Your poor mom! Grandma didn't call me on my birthday my first year of college. Her reasoning was that she "just didn't think of [me] down there."

I bet that was one of the best days of class! I always draw stick figures with heads that are much too big.

Mommavia, it was definitely a fun class. This week I'm having the kids bring in photos from home and "introduce" their family to the class. It's really cute.

Hi Jane. Yes, my hair is getting very long. It's a pain to get my hair cut here, so I just don't. I'll get a trim when I'm home this summer, but I thought I'd let it grow and donate it to Locks of Love again next year or so. It's a little longer than I'm comfortable with now, though, so I keep it in a ponytail most of the time.
