I had a happy Thanksgiving dinner at my apartment with my friends from work. Instead of turkey, we ordered some Chinese delivery. Great food and good company. As the only American at the table, I did my best to explain American Thanksgiving traditions, or at least those of my family. I also tried to answer T and M's historical questions, which at one point required pulling my copy of Nathaniel Philbrick's Mayflower off the bookshelf to check facts. It was fun to celebrate an American holiday with my friends here, but at the same time, I missed being with my family.
Here's our Thanksgiving dinner, including a rare recent photo of yours truly without glasses.

We thank Thee, Lord, for this our food,
For life and health and every good;
By Thine own hand may we be fed;
Give us each day our daily bread.

Why aren't you wearing glasses???
How are you?
You owe me an e-mail.
:D
Happy late Thanksgiving! The Chinese food made me chuckle, because that is what we usually eat the night before a holiday! No idea why...probably so no one cooks!
We spent our Turkey Day with our family here...our neighbors and other friends we've collected along the way, they are all our family.
Hi Jane. I'm good. How are you? I usually don't wear my glasses at home unless I'm watching a movie with subtitles. Otherwise, I know where things are well enough not to be bothered by blurry vision. Sorry, I know I owe you an email. I'm just a terrible correspondent, as you well know by now.
Hi mommavia. I decided to order Chinese food for dinner because that seems to be the stereotypical alternate when the dog eats the turkey or mom burns it or some other disaster occurs. It seemed fitting to me.
I hope you had a very happy Thanksgiving. I also have friends who have become my family, so I can understand your sentiment about your neighbors and friends. I'm glad you were able to celebrate together.
